After the log rafters are completed, we deck the roof with 2x6 T&G pine. The 2x6 runs horizontally up the rafters and becomes your finished ceiling on the interior which has the strength to carry the load of 6” rigid insulation. Three layers of 2” rigid insulation gives an R-value of 38. The roof is vented by adding 1x4 furring strips on 16” centers and covered with sheathing and felted before adding metal or shingles.
